Description
This is the 'traditional' music of Cape Town. A mixture of influences from America, Africa and Asia, held together by the folk music of the Cape and presented in the improvisational style of Jazz. This release was a critical success, which highlighted many lesser-known names in a scene. Until this CD was release really only Abdullah Ibrahim (Dollar Brand) was known internationally. Since issue some 15 years ago it has sold thousands of copies and is 'the' reference compilation of works by a number of now prominent Cape performers in the genre.
