Huang Daopo, an innovator in cotton textile technology, was born in Wunijing, Songjiang. His birth and death years are unknown. He was a famous cotton weaver and technical reformer during the late Song and early Yuan dynasties. When I was young, I wandered to Yazhou, Hainan and learned advanced cotton textile techniques from local Li women. After returning to her hometown, she passed on her skills to her fellow villagers and played an important role in the development of the cotton textile and planting industries in the Yangtze River Basin.
