Description
Sisters Bessie (Diane Keaton) and Lee (Meryl Streep) have not spoken for twenty years. Bessie nurses their ailing father Marvin (Hume Cronyn) and eccentric aunt Ruth (Gwen Verdon) in Florida, while Lee struggles to bring up her troublesome son Hank (Leonardo DiCaprio) in Ohio. When Bessie's doctor (Robert De Niro) tells her that she has leukaemia, she asks Lee to come and stay in the hope of obtaining a bone marrow transplant. The sisters are thus reunited, but their reconciliation is not an easy one.
