Der Zufall führte sie Anfang der 1960er Jahre in der Redaktion der Satirezeitschrift "Pardon" zusammen: die Mitglieder der später so genannten Neuen Frankfurter Schule (NFS) für Hochkomik, die – u.a. in der von ihnen gegründeten "Titanic" – zeigen, dass Komik große Kunst sein kann. Der Band analysiert die Werke der wichtigsten Vertreter und Nachfolger: F. W. Bernstein, Robert Gernhardt, Eckhard Henscheid, F. K. Waechter – Ror Wolf, Wilhelm Genazino, Max Goldt und Wiglaf Droste.
