0 - Default Title
Description
A brand new album from a brand new band, Cautionary Tales by TradArrr puts the rock into folk rock but leavens the oomph with musical subtlety and instrumental virtuosity. Masterminded by singer-guitarist PJ Wright (of Steve Gibbons Band, Dylan Project and Little Johnny England fame) and drummer / multi-instrumentalist Mark Stevens, this album brings to fruition a folk-flavoured big-band studio project the two have been plotting for years. PJ (vocals, acoustic and electric guitar, pedal steel) and Mark (vocals, drums, cornet, keyboards) are joined by Gregg Cave (vocals, acoustic and electric guitar), Marion Fleetwood (vocals, fiddle, cello, viola) and Guy Fletcher (vocals, fiddle, mandolin) together they are the five-piece band at the heart of the project. Cautionary Tales also nods to the Steely Dan recording philosophy by bringing in additional appropriate players on a track-by-track basis. So the album also features guest musicians of the calibre of Dave Pegg, Chris Leslie and Ric Sanders (Fairport Convention); Jerry Donahue (Hellecasters and Fotheringay); and Pete Scrowther. Northamptonshire's 'Moulton Melodeon Mafia' adds wheeze as a contrast to the album's bright brass played in British style. The Cautionary Tales repertoire draws on British traditional song, arranged and recorded using a broad palette of techniques and sounds with tones and textures drawn from many musical genres. Co-produced by PJ Wright and Mark Stevens, Cautionary Tales was recorded at The Moulton Pie Company Studio.
