Prince William II, King of England owned Pugs which immediately increased the breeds popularity. Pugs are extremely friendly, cocky, confident, sensitive, sturdy, and relish playtime making them a great family dog. Their coat comes in two colors, fawn and black, and is short and easy to maintain, this is probably why this breed is so popular with people with pet allergies. The AKC recognized the Pug, in the Toy Group in 1885.
