California Blues was originally released in 1996, shortly before Randy California's tragic death on January 2, 1997. Randy was surely the guiding light and musical force behind Spirit. This was Spirit's last official release. CALIFORNIA BLUES REDUX combines all the elements that Randy had wanted to include in the original album. Mich Skidmore, Randy's producer and friend, has lovingly combined all the musical elements in this album, completing Randy's musical vision. All of the musicians Randy worked with on CALIFORNIA BLUES REDUX had great musical pedigrees and added new sounds and colors to the original Spirit sound. Spirit's sound can only be experienced and not classified. CALIFORNIA BLUES REDUX is a musical feast that adds to the Spirit legend.
