Scissor Sisters

0 - Default Title
Description
Scissor Sisters are five electro-glam reprobates from New York who have produced one of the coolest records of 2004 without even trying. Ignoring the zeitgeist sounds of the Strokes & Stellastarr (theres no way that these guys own a Television album) the Scissor Sisters have missed out on becoming trendy scenesters to plough their own furrow in the plentiful fields of camp party music. Like fellow genre-splicing nutters Electric Six, Scissor Sisters are a band that wont be categorized. Influenced by vintage Bowie, Roxy Music & Elton John & with the audacity to cover Pink Floyd, the Scissor Sisters are one of the most unique & exciting bands around. Their self-titled debut album is chock-full of cheesy-yet-awesome tunes that incorporate disco, soft rock & everything in between. The Floyd cover Comfortably Numb evokes Saturday Night Fever era Bee Gees whilst Mary is a wonderful pastiche of Toto. Elsewhere the disco stomper Laura is guaranteed to fill dance floors from student unions to wedding receptions & Filthy/Gorgeous is the greatest single Fat Boy Slim never released. 11 tracks. Universal. 2004.
