Aus einem Malworkshop der Künstlerin Ursula Schaden entstand im Jahr 2006 ein Bildungsprojekt in Ghana, das einigen von Armut bedrohten Kindern aus dem Fischerdorf Mankoadze eine bessere Zukunft ermöglichen sollte. Eines dieser Kinder, Edmond Kojo Essel, (Beistrich rein) schildert seine Kindheit und Jugend und erzählt mit einem Augenzwinkern von den Sorgen, Ängsten und Hürden auf dem Weg zu seinem Universitätsabschluss. Ursula Schadens Blickwinkel wird mit Edmonds Geschichten und Interviews sowie Textbeiträgen weiterer Beteiligter zu einem bunten Stoff verwoben. Dieses Buch handelt nicht so sehr von „Charity“, sondern vielmehr von Vertrauen und dauerhaften menschlichen Beziehungen. Es gewährt einen lebendigen Einblick in die Kultur Ghanas. In 2006, a painting workshop by the artist Ursula Schaden initiated the founding of an educational project in Ghana. The aim was to provide a better future for children from the fishing village of Mankoadze at risk of poverty.One of these children, Edmond Kojo Essel, describes his childhood and youth and, with a twinkle in his eye, tells of the worries, fears and obstacles on the way to his university degree. Ursula Schaden's point of view is woven into a colourful fabric with Edmond's stories and interviews as well as text contributions from other participants. This book is not so much about "charity" as it is about trust and lasting human relationships. It provides a vivid insight into the culture of Ghana.
