An Aprovechante is a person striving for attainment, who lives day-to-day with watchful awareness, always seeking opportunities to live the virtuous life in pure spiritual and spirited friendship with others, loving perfectly in all directions, with an attitude of humility and the countenance of delight in life.
Shope weaves a whimsical tale of his lifelong spiritual odyssey inspired by the writings of St. John of the Cross, most notably the Dark Night of the Soul, told as a series of seven parables, based on the Seven Deadly Sins.
