With nearly 400 pictures from the likes of Dorothea Lange, Marion Post Wolcott, Walker Evans, Russell Lee, and Arthur Rothstein, the collection celebrates the power of each individual image as much as the collective and indelible survey of a nation. Along the way we encounter convicts and cotton workers, miners and mothers, kids on a street corner and relocated workers on the road, each subject as vivid in their individuality as they are entrenched in the hardships of history.
