Description
The book entitled "Viruddha Ahar- An Incompability of Diet" explores the ancient concept of Viruddha Ahara described in Ayurvedic texts. Incompatible combinations of food items cause many diseases after long use of these combinations. ÀcÁrya Caraka mentioned that biological body is born out of the wholesome diet and all the diseases too are produced due to unwholesome diet. All the texts of Àyurveda have given utmost priority to Viruddha-ÀhÁra in context of unwholesome diet. Viruddha-ÀhÁra increases the doÒas in the body but do not expel them out of the body and acts antagonistic to the body tissue. This incompatibility may be present in the food itself or may be related to place, quantity, time, bowel habits, etc. Modern science also has explored this concept of incompatibility of diet but many combinations mentioned in Ayurveda are still to be the area of research yet to be studied. This book gives an ideology for research scholars to envisage the idea of Viruddha Ahara in light of modern dietetics.
