The concept of taking pop/rock music hits and scoring them for a full orchestra was made famous by The London Symphony Orchestra in the late '70s. It had previously been thought that music fans would only want the original hit versions and that classical musicians wouldn't "lower" themselves to playing the simple repetitive melodies of pop songs; nothing could have been further from the truth. As groups like ELO attained superstar status, rock fans were becoming used to the sound of orchestras playing on their heroes' records. When, in 1978, the L.S.O. went one step further and recorded a whole album of purely orchestral versions of rock classics, it was a huge success. "Classic Rock" had proved that there were millions of people who wanted to hear orchestras playing the tunes they already knew and loved.

The problem some rock fans had had with classical music was that they liked the idea of getting into it but didn't know where to star: "Classic Rock" finally allowed them to enjoy the unique sound of an orchestra in full flight and their enjoyment has continued ever since Music Club's first two albums of this type, Orchestral Rock and Orchestral Rock II have been great successes and now on Orchestral Rock III : The Love Classics.....
