1000 Families

Uwe Ommer, photographe installé à Paris, a sillonné le monde pendant quatre ans et a photographié - dans 130 pays - plus d'un millier de familles, de cultures et de conditions sociales différentes. Ces portraits, rassemblés dans 1 000 Familles, l'album de famille de la planète Terre, constituent un témoignage unique sur la cellule familiale à l'aube du troisième millénaire.

« Je suis parti avec l'idée de créer un album de famille optimiste. Cet objectif de départ plutôt simpliste, s'est transformé en une extraordinaire aventure humaine. Avec un véhicule tout terrain j'ai parcouru, à travers cinq continents, plus de 250 000 kilomètres et accédé aux villages et campements les plus isolés. J'ai ainsi rencontré et photographié plus d'un millier de familles, du chef d'Etat au cireur de chaussures et acquis la certitude que la Famille avait un merveilleux avenir devant elle. »

He spent more than four years on the road - and returned with over a 1 000 pictures from 130 countries. Uwe Ommer, commercial photographer, took leave from his everyday work in order to photograph families typical of various countries, regions, and social and cultural environments. These portraits form the basis of 1 000 Families - The Family Album of Planet Earth - a testimony to the institution family at the beginning of the third millennium.

« I set off with the idea of creating an optimistic family album of our planet. But this rather simple intention turned into an extraordinary and unique adventure in which I photographed and go to know more than a 1 000 families from all levels of society, ranging from heads of state to shoe-shine " boys ". Traversing the five continents and covering 150,000 miles in a cross-country van, I was able to probe into the very heart of the remotest settlements and villages - only to discovery that these families have a wonderful future ahead of them. »

Mehr als vier Jahre war er unterwegs. Aus 130 Ländern hat er über 1 000 Bilder mitgebracht. Uwe Ommer, Werbefotograf mit Studio in Paris, nahm Urlaub vom Alltag. Er porträtierte Familien, die typisch sind für ihr Land, ihre Region oder ihr gesellschaftliches und kulturelles Umfeld. So entstand das « Familienalbum des Planeten Erde ». Es soll Zeugnis darüber ablegen, wie es zu Beginn des dritten Jahrtausends um die Institution Familie steht.

« Ich bin mit der Idee losgereist, ein optimistisches Familien-album unseres Planeten zu schaffen. Aus diesem recht einfachen Vorhaben ist ein ungewöhnliches und für mich einmaliges Abenteuer geworden : Über 1 000 Familien aus sämtlichen Schichten der Bevölkerung - vom Staatspräsidenten bis zum Schuhputzer - fotografiert und kennen gelernt zu haben, mit dem Geländewagen über 250 000 Kilometer durch die fünf Kontinente gefahren zu sein - bis in die abgelegensten Siedlungen und Dörfer - und feststellen zu können, dass die Familien noch eine schöne Zukunft vor sich haben ! »
