Erik Satie war ein unkonventioneller Komponist, "eine jener Naturen, die aus Oppositionslust gegen alles Bestehende sind, die alles in Frage stellen und zeitlebens bereit sind, von vorn anzufangen" (Klaus Wolters). Mit seinen meditativen, teils mystischen Klavierzyklen "Gymnopédies" und "Gnossiennes" (1889/90) beeinflusste er Ravel und Debussy. Die Stücke sind bewusst kurz und leicht, haben einfache Formen und teilweise frivol-humoristischen Charakter (etwa die an Clementi anknüpfende "bürokratische Sonatine"). Schwierigkeitsgrad: 3
