Antimicrobial Activity of Oil-Based Liquid Soap

0 - Default Title
Description
Brazil is the country with the greatest plant diversity in the world, with more than 55,000 plant species catalogued out of an estimated total of between 350,000 and 550,000, with the Brazilian savanna being one of the areas of vegetation with the highest rates of plant biodiversity. The need to introduce new natural active ingredients into the pharmaceutical and/or cosmetic arsenal has been researched due to the emergence of resistant bacterial strains, mainly resulting from the indiscriminate use of antimicrobial agents, which can be used as antiseptics. Considering the various properties presented by the fruits of the Cerrado, including their potential as antimicrobial agents, the present study aimed to produce liquid soap using oils extracted from baru, buriti, and pequi fruits as raw materials, emphasizing their antimicrobial potential and physical-chemical evaluation.
