Your entire city has vanished. Not burned down. Not conquered. Swallowed by the ocean in a single day and night. Every building, every person, every secret gone beneath the waves like it never existed.
That's the story of Atlantis, according to Greek philosopher Plato in 360 BCE. He described an island empire more powerful than anything on Earth. Golden temples soared into the sky. Ships glided through circular canals. Warriors so fierce they conquered half of Europe and Africa. The city was built in perfect rings with land and water alternating like a giant target, and at the center stood a massive palace covered in gold, silver, and a mysterious glowing metal called orichalcum.
Then one terrible day, the gods got angry. Earthquakes ripped through the island. Floods crashed over everything. In less than 24 hours, the most advanced civilization on the planet disappeared into the sea.
