Description
The research aimed to understand the meanings attributed to the experience of dancing by adolescents who practice street dance in the context of a public school in the state of São Paulo. This is a qualitative study of an exploratory nature and phenomenological inspiration. Topics such as adolescent psychological development and meaningful learning are addressed in the theoretical research. The researcher attended dance classes weekly for six months and subsequently conducted individual interviews with the students. Narratives were constructed focusing on the experience of the research participants from the perspective of the intersubjective relationship established between the researcher and the students. It was found that the experience with street dance provided students with containment for the emergence of elements typical of the experience of adolescence and meaningful learning.
