Der Horrorautor Larry entdeckt eine Geisterstadt in der Wüste Kaliforniens. Im Keller eines verfallenen Hotels steht ein Sarg, in dem eine mumifizierte weibliche Leiche liegt. Und in dieser Leiche steckt ein Holzpfahl. Larry beschließt, den Sarg mitzunehmen und das Entfernen des Pfahls auf Video für die Nachwelt festzuhalten. Keine gute Idee, wie sich bald herausstellen wird.
