Though still somewhat overlooked by the media at large, saxophonist Tony Lakatos has built a strong popular following throughout Europe and, especially, America. On this latest production, the native Hungarian has turned his ear to Gypsy ture, back to the roots. Together with pianist Szakcsi Bela Lakatos he has designed an up-to-date reflection of both jazz and Gypsy influences - all of the musicians involved come from Hungarian Gypsy families with long traditions in the field, though their work has mostly been devoted to the improed jazz field. This superb album takes the Gypsy Jazz genre to another level entirely.
