Description
This book explores the therapeutic impact of dynamic splinting on individuals with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) who present with ulnar deviation of the fingers-a common and functionally limiting deformity. The study aims to assess the effectiveness of a dynamic splint in improving pinch strength and functional ability in affected patients.A selected group of participants diagnosed with RA and exhibiting ulnar deviation were fitted with a custom-designed dynamic splint. Clinical assessments were conducted at baseline and after a structured intervention period, utilizing standard tools for measuring pinch strength and hand function. The findings demonstrated a significant improvement in pinch strength, as well as a notable enhancement in daily functional activities, as reported through validated functional assessment scales. The dynamic splint provided continuous corrective force while allowing active motion, thereby contributing to both joint alignment and muscular engagement. The study concludes that dynamic splinting can be a valuable non-invasive intervention to support hand function in RA patients with ulnar deviation, especially when integrated into a comprehensive rehabilitation.
