Fragile Fürstenherrschaft im spätmittelalterlichen Europa
0 - Default Title
Description
The interpretation offered by 'Fragile Princely Rule' attempts to free the concept of structural weakness in governance from the constraints of success assessment. It focuses on pivotal moments in political decision-making and the structural and human resources of princely rule. This makes the influence of other courtly actors more visible. The long-term impact of the administrative and financial resources of rulers and courts becomes apparent, as do the physical aptitude of rulers. The contributions cover an expanded Central European area. This includes not only the Holy Roman Empire and France, Scandinavia, city-states of northern Italy and Sicily as well as Bohemia and territories in the Baltic region, in Poland and Hungary, and, in a non-European comparison, at the Canary Islands.
