Description
As a painter, sculptor, draughtsman and poet, Max Ernst was one of the most charismatic protagonists of Dada and Surrealism. His work in numerous genres and innovative techniques - from film and painting to collage and frottage - was marked by an incessantly experimental spirit. Ernst was the initiator of the Cologne Dada group and, together with his life-long friends Paul Éluard and André Breton, a pioneer of Parisian Surrealism. His dreamlike visual language is both inspiring and disturbing.
