Description
'Forget' is the second part of a project, conceived by the acclaimed French saxophonist Julien Lourau. The first part was 'Fire' released in 2005, and together the titles make up the motto of British artillerymen, "Fire And Forget" (a reference to Britain's involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan). The themes of both albums result from the same session during which the saxophonist recorded numerous new compositions on his hard disk. After having recorded hours of music, Julien Lourau decided to present two different aesthetics. On 'Fire' colours and atmospheres were more emphasized, some of these tunes have been given a more straightahead interpretation on 'Forget' with the leader featured more as a soloist. During the studio sessions, the musicians rehearsed little in order to keep a maximum of spontaneity. A powerful groove was set up by the rhythm section which gave Eric Lohrer on guitar, Bojan Z on keyboards and Lourau on saxophones the opportunity to improe freely. A bonus DVD comes with the CD with a short film "L'Evagile Du Cochon Creole" by the Haitian film-maker Michel-Ange Quay set to music by Julien Lourau.
