The Monostellar System is recovering from a war that nearly destroyed all its planets. Surviving descendants of a royal family, whose forefather invoked the cataclysm, have constructed a huge and impenetrable maze to conceal their plans for a system-wide resurgence. At the center of this deadly labyrinth, the old device used to nearly annihilate the Monostellar System is being rebuilt, while new armies with ancient strategies amass. On a distant planet, an ancient aboriginal from a race thought long extinct appears with a message to a young man. This spirit-person tells the youth he is an integral part of a future that has already happened, and a destiny that will soon unfold. That is, if he rises to the challenge. The youth finds himself on a quest to help restore the spirit-visitor's people to their homelands at the heart of the maze, by means of a mask containing their long-vanquished spirits. He joins forces with an old foe and mystical girl, then embarks on a peril-filled journey to retrieve this mask from the clutches of a monster made of darkness in an immaterial realm.
