Raglan Castle

0 - Used - very good
Description
Raglan Castle has its origins as an earth-and-timber fortification but the impressive stone-built castle that we see today represents a magnificent final flourish in castle building, dating principally from the fifteenth century. Refurbished in the Tudor period as a great house with impressive gardens, this castle-palace was besieged in the Civil War and later suffered partial demolition, which rendered it useless as a residence. This fully illustrated guidebook tells the history of Raglan and its occupants through the centuries and contains maps, plans and specially commissioned reconstruction drawings. A detailed tour helps visitors understand the various parts of the building.
