Children Learn Science

0 - Default Title
Description
This book is the result of an educational intervention project. The project, led by the first author and supervised by the second, had the overall objective of promoting an experimental and interdisciplinary approach to science in the context of preschool and elementary school education. It provides a detailed description of the training process undergone by the first author and the impact it had on his professional development. The richness of his pedagogical action, in the practical and experimental exploration of science topics with children, is illustrated through the analysis of a set of diaries. Based on the children's personal ideas and strategies, he mediates and regulates their joint cognitive activity, helping them to achieve progressively higher levels of learning and cognition. The analysis of the diaries, combined with the results obtained through the use of other data collection instruments, shows that the pedagogical intervention in science had a very positive impact on the children's learning.
