Bees, wasps and allied insects (Hymenoptera) belong to an order which has been frquently unjustly ignored by nature lovers. Among the Hymmenoptera we can find species equalling in beauty the more popular butterflies or beetltes. Their lifestyle is no less interesting. In many species it is so unque as to be without parallel among other insects. There are about 15000 species of Hymenoptera inhabiting central Europe. They appear with the first spring flowers and can be seen as late as November and even exceptionally during winter.
