Description
Despite the osteoconductive and bioactive properties of calcium phosphate apatites, which are necessary for bone reconstruction, they remain inactive in the presence of pathogenic microorganisms that can develop in bone tissue, causing certain undesirable inflammatory reactions at the implantation site. To address this issue, oxygenation and phenolic acid adsorption treatments were performed on these apatites. The main results of this study show, on the one hand, the formation of oxygenated apatites (OA) deficient in calcium with a significant amount of molecular oxygen inserted into the apatite tunnels and, on the other hand, the adsorption of these three phenolic acids on our apatite matrix. Finally, we examined the adsorption of cobalt ions on AO. The encouraging results lead us to believe that these apatite materials could be used advantageously in the fields of wastewater and industrial effluent treatment or bone substitution.
