The stunning young "twin cellists" Pei-Jee and Pei-Sian Ng and fellow Australian, pianist David Tong , give a recital of beautiful romantic music for cello and piano - the Sonatas by Chopin (Pei-Jee) and Rachmaninov (Pei-Sian) - together with the world premiere recording of Phoenix Story for two cellos by noted Australian composer Elena Kats-Chernin. This is pianist David Tong's second album for Melba following his spectaar debut CD (of Rachmaninov, Chopin and Liszt) in 2005. The music featured is of the beautiful Romantic repertoire - the Sonatas for cello and piano by Chopin and Rachmaninov - plus the world premiere recording of noted Australian composer Elena Kats-Chernin's Phoenix Story for two cellos. It was recorded direct to disc using DSD (direct stream digital) technology - the same technology behind the SACD and one that ensures absolute maximum performance from a CD. The album also contains striking artwork from the renowned Ken Cato and a 26-page colour booklet with essays and translations.
