Homage to Lago Maggiore Thomas Huber's (b. Zurich, 1955; lives and works in Berlin) paintings unfurl fantastic worlds, employing complex processes of symbolization to call the possibility of a representation of reality in question: different historical strata coexist, and ostensibly contradictory elements inhabit illusionary spaces and surreal architectures. The catalogue Lago Maggiore is dedicated to a new body of work by the artist that was sparked by his desire to return to his native Switzerland and that represents a radical paradigm shift in his oeuvre. First presented at MASI Lugano, the works reflect Huber's fascination with Lago Maggiore and the sceneries around it. Manifold variations of the theme limn his vision of this singular landscape of mountains, water, sky, and light.
