Das Buch stellt neben zahlreichen Gem?lden auch eine Reihe von Skulpturen vor, die in den letzten zwei Jahren entstanden sind: zum Leben erweckte Comic-Helden und verfremdete Luxus-Gegenst?nde, die wie Exponate aus einer zeitgen?ssischen Kunst- und Wunderkammer anmuten. ---------------- For years, Heiner Meyer has been collecting photos, pictures and clippings from magazines, comics, art books and advertisements. They form the requisites for his works, which though they have the appearance of collages, but are actually paintings. They are all expressions of the contemporary reality of our life. Meyer's motifs stem from the Western world of illusions and ideal projections of our wishes. He confronts us with the glamour and the sex appeal of the ubiquitous advertising world and his works carry us off into enigmatic pictorial worlds full of satire, irony and parody. In addition to numerous paintings, the book presents a series of sculptures that have been produced in the past two years: comic book heroes brought to life and alienated luxury items suggesting exhibits in a contemporary cabinet of art and curiosities.
