In the last years of his life, Martin Heidegger devoted himself to a text that he regarded as a kind of summary of his entire philosophy. The 'Vermächtnis der Seinsfrage' refers to all the essential themes of his thinking in order to rephrase them in different ways. In fact, what is surprising about these fragmentary notes is that, even in these latest philosophical efforts, Heidegger not only wanted to recapitulate his 'Wege des Denkens', but also to open new paths of thinking into what he hoped would be a fruitful future for philosophy. The liveliness of the notes is astonishing. The last volume of the Gesamtausgabe, edited by Peter Trawny, therefore presents a conclusion only insofar as it contains new food for thought that is still worth considering today.
