Description
A Chicago-based group founded in 1991 by harmonica player and songwriter Pierre Lacocque. The core lineup has remained unchaged for some years: Inetta or, one of Chicago's great unknown black voices, has developed into a powerhouse of a leading lady; guitarist Chris Winters has, during the last few years, stepped out of the shadows of previous guest performers; and with bassist Spurling Banks and drummer Kenny Smith (son of longtime Muddy Waters' drummer Willie Smith) the outfit is in possession of a high class rhythm section. New to the group are keyboard player Chris 'Hambone' Cameron and second guitarist Steve Doyle. On this strong new studio album they perform nine original songs and three covers: two written by Denise LaSalle and Leiber & Stoller's "I'm A Woman", a 1962 hit for Peggy Lee. Fellow Chicago bluesman Carl Weathersby guests on four of the recordings.
