Description
This story envisages the life of twins born to a slave woman on a slave plantation and raised on an adjoining estate, where slavery and slaves were not part of the lives there. The head of the household on the estate was a parson, Daniel, who with his wife, Isabella, supervised the upbringing of the twins. The father of the twins was a white skinned slave master on the adjoining plantation. Although the twins' mother, Mahalia, was a black skinned woman, the twins were white skinned.
