Description
The present volume's initial question is simply: Are there genuinely religious motivations? More precisely: Does faith in God contain its own spectrum of motivations that turn a 'contemplative' faith into an actively committed one? If these motivational resources - neglected in moral theology - do exist, interesting follow-up questions arise: From what do these motivations derive their strength and commitment? How do they compare to their 'secular' counterparts? What is the motivation for in the first place? Are there multiple motivations or, in this sense, over-motivations as a conflict of different motivations? And how does motivated and motivating faith relate to the multiple denial of this very quality of being out for something, of intervening, of changing something? Is a demotivating belief a mere contradiction in terms or a veritable possibility in itself?
