Description
Maassluis, eind jaren veertig. In het stadje vestigt zich een fietsenmaker die fout was in de oorlog. Twee verschoppelingen, de zoon van de fietsenmaker en een zoon van een rioolwerker, vinden elkaar. Hun hechte vriendschap wordt echter steeds beproefd omdat de fietsenmakerszoon al sinds de bewaarschool de vriendinnetjes afpakt van de rioolwerkerszoon. Zelfs later, als ze beiden in Leiden studeren, blijft dit patroon binnen hun vriendschap gehandhaafd, totdat het uiteindelijk, op onthustende wijze, wordt doorbroken.
