The Discrimination of Bisexuality

The Discrimination of Bisexuality

0 - Default Title
Description
Discrimination against bisexuality is unique in the way that it is riddled with false stereotypes, prejudiced opinions and the systematic suppression of voices that could counteract them. The oppression of bisexual people has a variety of psychological and physical consequences. Starting with a general insecurity in their own identity, through to exclusion from public events, intrusive questions about their sexual history or even physical and psychological violence. In the social media analysis, these facts were repeatedly addressed, and so I was able to establish a more accurate picture of the daily lives of bisexual people. The TED videos on YouTube created an even deeper understanding as the speakers described their life experiences and backed them up with expertise. The invisibility of bisexuality and its suppression is an ideal target for a possible counter-movement. Positive representation in the media can lead to more people who are willing to live an open bisexual life, which in turn can give others courage and confidence.
