This CD of works that long ago achieved lollipop status, including Elgars Pomp and Circumstance March No. 1, Andersons The Typewriter and Woods Fantasia on British Sea Songs, features the playing of the Brandenburgisches Staatsorchester Frankfurt under the direction of Howard iths together with the Fine Arts Brass. Particularly noteworthy are the Tin Pan Alley pieces: Carmichaels melancholic Stardust, Wright Fats Wallers ambiguously ironic Smashin Thirds and Valentine Stomp, as well as Berlins melodically and rhythmically extravagant Puttin on the Ritz.
