Genetic variability studies in Linseed (Linum usitatissimum L.)

0 - Default Title
Description
In conclusion, wide genetic variability was evident and considering performance relative to checks and CD values, OL-2022-23-1, RL 18133, DLV-8, Kota Barni Alsi-4 (ZC) and RLC-148 (ZC) emerged as promising genotypes for high seed yield, superior oil content, desirable harvest index and other quantitative traits, suitable for further testing and utilization in linseed improvement programmes.Among the traits studied, seed yield per plant exhibited the highest genotypic and phenotypic coefficients of variation (16.04% and 17.20%, respectively), followed by number of capsules per plant (15.31% and 16.19%) and number of branches per plant (14.55% and 16.28%). The comparatively high values of both GCV and PCV for these characters reflect substantial genetic variability, indicating that these traits offer promising scope for improvement through selective breeding.
