Description
Catalogue number 530 270-2 on the Motown label with 15 tracks. This is a 1966 album recorded for the Tamla (Motown) label. The album's plan was to establish the singer as a strong albums-oriented artist, as well as a hit maker, although he was still uncomfortable with performing strictly R&B. He was winning more fans, and had become a crossover teen idol. Six of the Mood of... album's songs were released as singles: impressively all reached the Top 40 on the R&B singles chart and four of them reached the Top 40 on the Pop Singles Chart, a rare feat for a solo R&B artist even at that time. He also scored his first two No. 1 R&B singles, I'll Be Doggone and Ain't That Peculiar, both co-written by Gaye's friend, Berry Gordy's right-hand man Smokey Robinson. The tracks are: 1> I'll Be Doggone [2:45], 2> Little Darling (I Need You) [2:33], 3> Take This Heart Of Mine [2:46], 4> Hey Diddle Diddle [2:29], 5> One More Heartache [2:40], 6> Ain't That Peculiar [2:58], 7> Night Life [3:03], 8> You've Been A Long Time Coming [2:12], 9> Your Unchanging Love [3:12], 10> You're The One For Me [3:23], 11> I Worry 'Bout You [3:23], 12> One For My Baby (And One More For The Road) [4:27], 13> When I Had Your Love [2:28], 14> Pretty Little Baby [2:35], 15> I'll Take Care Of You [2:50].
