Le caractère chinois ? 目 (mù), signifiant « oeil », évoque à la fois le regard et sa capacité à organiser la réalité. Élément essentiel de l'écriture chinoise, il entre dans la composition d'un très grand nombre de sinogrammes et guide ici une réflexion sur une génération d'artistes chinois nés entre la fin des années 1970 et le début des années 1990.

Ces artistes, qui ont grandi dans un contexte de basculement vers une société de consommation urbanisée et d'ouverture internationale, explorent leurs liens avec une histoire riche et complexe ainsi que leur place dans un monde en constante mutation.

La régulation des flux humains et d'information, à l'heure de l'emprise croissante des technologies numériques, est un des thèmes récurrents de leur travail. The Chinese character ? 目 (mù), meaning 'eye', evokes both the gaze and its ability to give shape to reality.
