Für die Neuausgabe der "großen" Schubert-Messen wurden das Quellenmaterial noch einmal eingehend und subtil untersucht. Das Ergebnis sind historisch-kritische Urtextausgaben, die an zahlreichen Stellen von den bisherigen Ausgaben abweichen: nicht gravierend, aber in vielen sinnfälligen Details, vor allem der Dynamik und Artikulation (das "Schmerzenskind" der Schubert-Editoren). Einer historisch bewussten Aufführungspraxis liefern die Ausgaben somit einen ebenso sorgfältig erstellten wie interpretatorisch attraktiven Notentext.
