Description

Another ode by director John Ford to the frontier-builders of the Wild West. In 1849, Elder Wiggs (Ward Bond) sets out to accompany a group of Mormons on their journey to San Juan. He is joined by horse traders Travis Blue (Ben Johnson) and Sandy Owens (Harry Carey Jnr), and along the way they also pick up four members of a medicine show and a tribe of nomadic Native Americans. The camaraderie which develops comes under threat, however, when the wagon train is joined by the Clegg family - murderous outlaws who are seeking to evade capture by the marshall's posse.
