Description
The Destitute Witch and Other Stories is a collection of short stories that revolve around the internal struggles that occur within each Filipino. They also closely look at how each person wrestles with their flaws (and the flaws of others) and how those flaws impact their lives. In the titular story, we join Mansano in his struggle with his master's selfishness and causticness. In "A Lucrative Gold-Mining Endeavor," we witness the protagonist's struggles with his selfishness. In "The Third Law of Motion," we see how envy and incompetence twist a group of friends' morals and source of sense of worth. In "Dumpsite," we witness the destructive effects of Mr. Malawa's frustrations on the lives of Jess and Mark. In "The Sow in the Corner," we see a family being ruined by infidelity. In "The Destination of the Racing Heart," the dangerous consequences of rushing mindlessly into a relationship are explored. And in "Mirror of Return," we witness Sir Dino's battle with guilt, which has ruined his intimacy with God.
