The Fabulous Flee-Rakkers (later, simply The Flee-Rekkers) gave maverick indie producer Joe Meek’s tiny Triumph label its first hit in the Spring of 1960, with the bootin’ Green Jeans. They later recorded for Pye and Piccadilly, charting with Sunday Date and registering airplay hits with 45s like Blue Tango, Lone Rider and Fireball. This compilation rounds up everything that the band recorded, including their audition tape for Meek, an unissued outtake, and a couple of their ‘guest appearances’ on which they backed other RGM artists. 1.
