Within four and a half decades of extensive academic work and a wealth of publications, the systematic theologian Ulrich H. J. Körtner has always taken the 'risk of an answer that no commentary produces or exhausts' (P. Ricœur), which has made him an important voice in Protestant theology, church, and society in the German-speaking world and beyond. Students, colleagues and companions who combine some of Ulrich Körtner's impulses with their own work respond in this Festschrift from the fields of Hermeneutic Theology, Systematic Theology, Theology and Church in a European perspective, Ethics, Medical Ethics and Diaconal Science and, thus, continue the process of 'mapping the fields'.
