Das Existenzverständnis bei Fritz Buri
0 - Default Title
Description
[Fritz Buri's Understanding of Existence] Esther R. Suter analyzes the origins of liberal theology in Switzerland, in particular the development of the Bernese School under the influence of Albert Schweitzer, Martin Werner and Fritz Buri. Buri's influence reached as far as the USA, South Korea, Japan and, with the ecumenical awakening also on progressive Catholics. His theological-philosophical and interreligious considerations are rooted in the views of Schweitzer, with whom he cultivated a personal closeness and, by means of an independent interpretation of Karl Jaspers' existential philosophy, theologically keeps a critical distance. Buri's research is compatible with fundamentally new approaches in ecological theology in a proximity to feminist theology, in ethical theology understood as a responsibility for Human Rights, and for interreligious dialog, especially with Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism.
