An ode to the workers of Ballantyne Cashmere, who produce some of the finest cashmere in the world. So, this book is a collection of color photographs of the Scottish factory workers at Ballantyne Cashmere in Scotland. The photographer, Esko Mannikko, is a genius at photographing place and people -- not leisure places, not celebrity people -- but rural working people and the places they live and work. This hardcover book was commissioned by Ballantyne Cashmere and then printed in 2003. Esko Männikkö was born in 1959 in Pudasjärvi in the northern part of Finland. He lives and works in Oulu. In 2008 he was awarded the prestigious Deutsche Börse Photography Prize. Then, the same year he presented Cocktails 1990 - 2007 at Millesgården in Stockholm, Kulturens Hus in Luleå and Bomuldsfabriken Kunsthall in Arendal. Mannikko has had numerous solo exhibitions at Galerie Nordenhake in Stockholm as well as Berlin. First edition (2003), first printing. Large format hardback. Signed by Esko Mannikko to title page.
