Epica's seventh full-length studio effort The Holographic Principle signified a significant upping of the musical ante for this most adventurous of modern bands and was rewarded with their first UK Top 50 album placing. So far, the band's World Tour has only taken in one triumphant night at the Shepherds Bush Empire but a small UK run is planned for Spring 2018. To precede it, this new six-song EP again represents the most impressive and powerful expression of Epica's boldly inventive sound. With lashings of sumptuous orchestration and a never-ending stream of ingenious but brutal metal riffs and propulsive rhythms underpinning the whole explosive enterprise. "The listeners can expect a high-quality EP - with songs that are far too good to use them only as bonus tracks. It is always hard to decide at the end of a recording process which songs will be on the album, because this means that you have to miss some songs with best quality, just because they do not fit quite well into the overall flow of the record or because there are other songs that are more suited to the lyrics," explains guitarist/vocalist Mark Jansen about the dilemma of having to make a final selection. With this selection of impressive anthems there will surely also be some included in the live set of EPICA, Mark? "Yes, I think so," the charismatic songwriter smiles promisingly. "We will pay partiar attention to the reactions to the EP as soon as it is released."
